"This is a tip that I almost hate to share because I am still one of the lucky few that knows to pick up stuff like this. When you go to garage sales always look for old paper, magazines especially are collectible. Magazines that are historic in nature, like here is a magazine about the Beatles and although this is 1995, it is fairly new but still it is about the Beatles, and as you can see one of our antique dealers put twenty dollars on this, they will probably get ten for it, but magazines, especially from the fifties, people look for designer magazines like what did homes look like, Homes and Garden, from the fifties. They look for fashion, what did the fashions look like in the forties, the fifties, the sixties, they look for historical events; wars, fairs, disasters, magazines are incredibly collectible whether they be Saturday Evening Post, Times, Look are phenomenal, beautiful covers, one thing I would like to avoid, tell you to avoid would be National Geographics, because they are everywhere and they are not worth a lot. Some people though buy them up just to take the back covers off because usually there are beautiful Coca Cola ads on the back covers, so that is one way but don’t pay more than, pay a little bit and put them away because these are good keepers. Magazines, try to find them. "
