"EMIL LAMPRECHT: Now we're going to go over basic separations. Now, this is going to be a little different than your basic lift tricks because you're now going to be applying and balancing pressure to the side as well as up and down. A basic separation looks like this. Now, you have to kind of balance the middle block as you separate the outside one. For this, you'll need a little bit of lift to keep it centered and you need a little bit of side pressure and kind of retraction to keep it balance on the other outside box. Now, you'll see, obviously, I have to angle it a little bit to really keep it sideways. People who are very good can sometimes get a nice sideways lift but it takes a lot of effort. So for now, try just your basic lift and don't worry too much about the angle. Just separate the box enough to show that it's separated and reconnect in the middle. It's a lot like your one box lift only now, there's a lot of pressure going towards the side. As you can see, I kind of give it a jolt and try not to push it that way before separating just to make sure it sticks to the other outside box. That's basic separations."
