"EMIL LAMPRECHT: Now we're going to over what's called the grip shifts. Now, as you can see, there's plenty of surface space on a cigar box--especially three of them. So, start thinking about how you can use different surfaces of the box to add to the dynamic. First, I'm going to show you just a very simple grip shift. You're going to make as if you're going to do a three box lift and flip your hand around so you're then holding the bottom of one of the outside boxes. Pretty simple. Now, it's going to seem a little strange firstly because you're releasing two boxes now instead of one or three so it's different in that regard and secondly because you now have to apply the pressure and angle from your arm differently than you would holding the boxes normally. Being able to shift back and forth on both sides, however, makes some of the future tricks much easier and can add interesting dynamic. Once you get that down, try even the outside edge. Maybe switching all the way back, maybe switching all the way underneath which I obviously can't do very well and then just switching back and forth. It doesn't take much of a hop. Remember, you're just switching your hand around but try it at different levels of lift to see how it works for you."
