"EMIL LAMPRECHT: I put this clip aside, specifically, as an introduction to body throws. Now, body throws with every prop are very different. If you've learned body throws with balls, you'll find that with clubs, they're in some ways much easier, but in other ways much more difficult. The ways that they're easier is that because you have the handle to work with and a knob to swing by, your arm doesn't usually need to travel as much or as fast to pull out a throw. For instance, a backcross with balls, your hand needs to travel all the way over here to carry the ball up and over. While with clubs, because of the swinging motion and ability to use a knob, it doesn't have to travel past the middle of your back. This means your recovery to--back to catching point is much quicker. The harder part is that the spin has to be relative to the path that's following around your body. If I'm trying to throw a double and it starts spinning before it clears my shoulder, it's more than likely that the club will hit me on the way up, due to spin and be screwed up. The same goes for under the leg, you need to have the club completely spinning around your leg, or outward from your leg so that it is not--so that the spin and path of the throw is not interfered with--by your body part. The fundamentals of learning body throws with clubs, the same as every trick: Good posture, head up, parallel feet if you can, and control your weight and your body so that your arms are doing the work, and your body isn't trying to follow and chase clubs to keep up."
