"EMIL LAMPRECHT: The next trick I'm going to show you is another Body Throw type, but it's more of a Body Catch, I suppose. The problem is that you're catching as if you were a shoulder throw hand position wise, but instead of catching it behind you, you're going to leave in front of you. So the catch is like that. This is called a Penguin Catch, and, you know, penguins walk like this. Somehow jugglers interpreted that into this type of catch. It's very difficult and if you do not have flexible wrists, I don't suggest it as it can be painful if done incorrectly. You want to start, like always, one at a time. You shouldn't have to use any extra height or timing. You should be able to just whip your hand around and catch it. If you can get it down on one side, practice that, then the other side. This is one trick, you'll take note, where I do not emphasize keeping your shoulders back. Because you have to twist your arms so much, your shoulders will tend to slump forward, which is not a bad thing as long as you're facing your audience. To get it consistently, it helps to even round your feet kind of inwards, as in kind of a penguin-like way, just to get your balance in a position where you can flip out consistently. It's hard for me to do while talking, but it's a pretty interesting trick when done correctly. Penguin Catches, take it or leave it. It's a fun-looking thing to do and can kind of add to your success in attempting Over the Shoulder throws and catches."
