"If you've learned to throw all doubles, this is your next step, is to learn throwing doubles, but in a 5-2-2 pattern. The throws are all the same, but the timing is a little different. The importance of that is this: if you're throwing all doubles, you shouldn't have too much time in between throws, and it should be a consistent beat. If you're throwing a 5-2-2 pattern, you should have more time. Thumb spins, for instance, are a good example of a trick you should use 5-2-2 for because your hands will be sitting idle, during which time you can do something like that."
