"Ok. Why would I recommend using a European or British style crossword grid, rather than the North American style grid? The North American style crossword grid on the other hand, every single letter is in both in a crossword and a downward. When it comes to writing a crossword, this is far harder to fill in all of the squares on the grid. There are far fewer words. And, what you end up doing is using unusual words. Whereas, with this the cryptic style crossword you can generally find words that are in the vocabulary of the intended readership. You don't end up with unusual words."
