"CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Okay, this is all about the waitress. The waitress is probably, other than the comic, the backbone of any comedy club. If they're really efficient, the crowd's going to have a much better time. If they're not so much, hmmm. So, people spend so much time, you know, sucking up to the owner or the manager, you know, trying to network. Be nice to the waitress and I'll tell you why. If a waitress doesn't like you, a lot of times the club owner doesn't always ask the manager. Well, he will, but he'll also ask the waitress, "Hey, is this person funny?" If she doesn't like you she'll say, "No." Alright? So, don't disrespect them. Be friends with them. Be helpful, get out of their way. 'Cause many times if a waitress does not like you, this happens a lot, she will drop a check on you instead of someone else; you don't want that, or take a very loud drink order, alright? So, be kind to your waitress, alright? It will help you."
