"CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Okay. Now, this is comedy bar etiquette. This is where jobs are lost. What do I mean by that? I can't tell you how many comics are so annoying at a bar. They're trying to be funny around the waitress who's extremely busy, or the manager who's on the phone, extremely busy; they're cracking jokes. You know what's going to happen? They're going to hear your joke, associate, "Oh, my God. I'm busy. You're annoying." Your joke, they're busy, you're annoying. So, now, they'll link up in their mind that this guy is annoying. If you want to crack a joke, wait till everyone's not so busy, and it's best to do the jokes on stage anyway. Don't get drunk, you'll get a horrible reputation. Don't be loud. What happens is that their audience will complain. They're going to hear outside at some clubs, the way it just comes down "Hey, this guy is too loud." You'll be banned. Don't act like an idiot at the bar. Do not drink and be quiet. Okay."
