Safety Concerns in RC Model Workshop

"Hi, my name's Curtis Enlow and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to plan, setup and equip a work area for radio controlled models. Ok, let's take a moment to talk about safety. Anytime you're drilling, sanding, grinding, even using a pair of snips to cut plastic flash off of a part, you must wear these. I know, they look dorky, don't they? But you know what? Eye patches look a lot worse and the world looks even worse yet without depth perception. I don't know how many times safety glasses have saved my eyes working in the aviation aerospace industry and it can do the same thing for you in modeling. There's a lot of danger in using some of these tools. So these Dremel tools run as high as 10,000 RPM and I have had little grinding discs decide to come apart at those speeds. You really need to be careful when using these. Wear your safety glasses. Another thing is chemical safety. When you're working indoors and you're working with paints, you're working with thinners, various kinds of chemicals, you may not get dizzy, you may not get sick, but you know what? In the long run, you can without proper ventilation. A lot of these chemicals build up in your body and you don't know you're sick until all the sudden you get so sensitized chemicals that just being around them will cause you to break out in rashes, that sort of thing. I've seen that many times. You need to provide proper ventilation, proper safety equipment anytime that you're using chemicals, power tools or doing any kind of cutting operation."
