Measuring Tools for RC Model Workshop

"Hi, my name's Curtis Enlow and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to plan, setup and equip a work area for radio controlled models. Another must have when working on small RC aircraft, helicopters, you name it, is a small set of files of varying shapes and sizes. These are wire files and these are extremely handy and I don't know if you can see how small these actually get, but they're tiny tiny down to smaller than a needle at one end, up to about an eighth of an inch. These are great for gently enlarging holes or cleaning the amount of debris before you fasten things together. This is a set of diamond files and these are very small, different sizes, triangle, round, flat blade, you name it. These are very handy things to have. Some more tools that are absolute necessary are measurement tools and there's a variety available. Everything from a large metal straight edge ruler like this, which is handy not only for measuring but using as a straight edge, you'll find that you'll use this a lot. A small machinist ruler like this is really invaluable. You can get these in both SAE and metric and they usually have a one-tenth scale on the back. You'll find that you use that a lot, especially for getting in measuring places that are really tight and you can't get a larger rules like this into. Another thing that I find especially helpful is a small set of digital calipers. Now with something like this, you can measure parts. It has a scale that is both in metric and SAE and this is handy for doing repairs or if you get your own raw stock, manufacture your own replacement parts or repair parts, you're going to find this to be invaluable. And they're surprisingly not as expensive as you might think."
