" Hi! This is Daniel on behalf of Expert Village in this clip we’re going to be talking about the different terms that are used in the game 21 or more commonly known as blackjack. The first term that you want to associate yourself with is to split, if you have two cards of equal value let’s say you have two 10’s, you can split those cards simply by taking the cards and separating them on the table. When you’ve separated the two cards on the table you’ll place an equal bet with the second card, if you had two chips on the first bet like so you would simply split it and add two more chips to the other one, you now have two hands that you’re playing separately and that is to split. Our next term is surrender, most casino’s nowadays do not use surrender at anytime during the game if they do allow surrender you simply say surrender. That allows you to get half of your chips back, if you had two on the table you’d get one back the dealer takes the other now usually you can only use surrender if you had taken no more cards. If you had taken another card the surrender option is usually off the table, now if they do allow surrender it can be in your advantage most of the time because if you believe the dealer might have a 21 and you’ve got a 12 or a 13 or a 14 the chances are you’re going loose that hand, now rather than take insurance you’re better off taking half your money back. With insurance you may stay even but if you loose that hand you’ll probably loose the insurance and the bet."
