" Hi! My name is Dan, and I am here with Expert Village today to show you how to tie the fireman’s chair. This is an excellent knot for tying two fixed loops which can be fitted around your legs, and then you can be lowered off the edge of, in this case, a burning building. To tie the fireman’s chair is very similar to the beginning of tying the finger cuffs. Make two opposing loops and feed them through—or through one another. When you get to the desired length of your loops, you simply tie an overhand knot on each side. So now, unlike the finger cuffs, which are a shrinkable—or the loops shrink, these are two fixed loops you can put over your legs. I can tie it one more time, and I will make it with bigger loops and put it on. So take two opposing loops; suppose those will be big enough, make your overhand knot, pull tight so that’s your knot. So now if I were being lowered from a building, I would have two very secured loops, and I would just have to hold onto the line coming from the roof. So that is a fireman’s chair."
