"Hi, i am Dave Presley with Saint Charles Flying Service on behalf of expert village. The first solo is one of the most important and satisfying steps of your flight training. When your instructor has determined that you can fly and land the airplane safely, you?re ready for you first solo flight. For many this is one of the most important accomplishments in their lives, and appropriately there are many traditions associated with it. No instructors pour water over your head or such things, what is common is the cutting of your shirt tail after your first solo flight. When returning to the airport your instructor will carefully cut the back out of your shirt. Many schools will write the name and date on the shirt tail and hang it on the wall for all to see. When you pass your private pilot check ride, and obtain your certificate, you can take it down and proudly hang it on your own wall."
