Summary: Learn about Amtgard Enchantments in this free series of live role playing game tips from our longtime Amtgard rpg player and kingdom organizer.
"Hi, my name is Austin Harmon, but out here I'm known as Forrest Evergreen. I'm here on expertvillage.com to teach you about the game of Amtgard. The only other type of magic is what's called an enchantment. Basically, with an enchantment; if I had somebody on my team I would have to make physical contact with them. I would take an enchantment strip. They would be color coded based on the class I'm playing. So if I was playing Druid, which I do a lot of the time; I would take a green enchantment strip; I would tie it on to him, and I would cast whatever spell it is that I wanted him to be protected by. So I could cast a stoneskin spell, which basically makes all of his skin rock hard all over, so that any shot to any location came off that armor first. He could take one shot to all of his locations; arm, chest, arm, leg, leg. If he got hit once each in those five locations; he wouldn't actually have taken any damage because it would have come off of the armor that I just gave him. The way that I do that is to tie it on, make contact, and I say "nature protect thee from all forms of attack"; ten times. I finish tying the ribbon on; he's good to go. He goes out into combat, and the general thing to do as you're walking toward an opponent is to hold that arm up, and declare; I have one part of stoneskin. If you have taken some damage; common courtesy is to say; I've got one stoneskin left on my left arm, both legs, my torso; nothing left on my right arm. Since people can't visually tell where it's left, it allows them to know that the right arm is vulnerable to any attacks I may have. It's just common courtesy in the game to announce to your opponents what they would normally be able to see if the magic existed, so they're not having to guess what's going on."
