"Hi, my name is Austin Harmon, but out here, I'm known as Forrest Evergreen. I'm here on expertvillage.com to teach you about the game of Amtgard. What you're seeing out there right now is what we call a trench battle, and that is solely hand to hand style combat. There is no throwing weapons allowed, no bows and arrows, no class abilities, no magic, no armor. It's just martial combat; hand to hand. Any one shot to a limb disables it; any one shot to the body kills you. What we do is divide into two even numbered teams to fight, and it's mutual annihilation. Whenever one team is completely out of lives; everyone is dead on that team, we reset. Then the winning team gives the person that died first on their team to the losing team. Basically the teams cycle through that way. You don't have one team that wins all day, because eventually; if nothing else; one team will so outnumber the other team that they'll get a victory; give a person, and you wind up rotating through people that way. The better fighters wind up eventually shifting from side to side and it gives people more of an experience on how to practice fighting hand to hand. When you're out there playing, the real meat of the entire game is the hand to hand combat."
