"Hi my name is Austin Harmon, but out here I'm known as Forest Evergreen. And I'm here on Expert Village.com to teach you about the game of Amtgard. From fourteen to seventeen you have to have a waiver signed by your guardian. Eighteen and over you sign your own waiver. You can fight if you're under the age of fourteen, but that requires specific permission from your parents and from the local monarch. Which is basically the president of the organization at the time. So every six months when we elect a new president, that permission will have to re-up for the person if they were still under the age of fourteen. Because we don't want anybody out here that's young and kind of small, to get out there with some of the larger guys that are fighting, and accidentally get hit too hard or get injured. We try to play safe, we try to be nice, but physically there are limitations as to how much we can adjust when we're out there and fighting and not wind up hitting someone who's smaller. And actually maybe knocking them down. So we try to make it safe. We have activities for children that do come to our events, we host kids activities, puzzles things activities requested specifically for the children so that everyone involved knows not to swing as hard. To play down to the level of the children, whether they're seven or ten or thirteen, you know, we play to the level of the individual so that they can have fun."
