"Welcome back and this is Brian on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’ve taken the liberty of double checking the temperature of our developing solution here and in the time it’s taking in prepare and get to this step it’s warmed up to 74 degrees so I went ahead and double checked that and so for an initial eight minute developing time at 68 degrees we actually want to shorten that down to five minutes and 45 seconds at 74 degrees. So let’s go ahead and set the timer…as I just showed you with the pre-rinse it’s necessary to agitate your film at regular intervals, manufacturers such as Illford recommend 10 seconds of agitation for every minute of developing time whereas Kodak recommends 5 seconds of agitation every 30 seconds. Since we’re using ell for chemicals in this particular case I’m going to go ahead and agitate for 10 seconds once every minute, we’ll go ahead and start the timer counting down from 6 minutes, again like I said we want a 5 minute and 45 seconds developing time so that’ll give us plenty of time to get going. This is the one that I told you about earlier that I’ll use to agitate this particular tank and simply pour in the chemicals, you want to agitate it continuously for the first 30 seconds this helps break off the bubbles of air that have collected on the film strip itself when you’ve poured the chemicals in…and allows the chemicals to reach every part of the negative to properly develop it. Now we’ve gone for 30 seconds so I’ll go ahead and pause, okay now it’s 4:47 so let’s agitate for 10 seconds…if you’re using the metal reels it’s a good idea to always give the canister a good firm tap again to help loosen up the bubbles as I’ve mentioned before. With this particular design you’ll notice it shakes the one bounces up and down as you turn it and that has the same effect and it’s not necessarily on this particular style canister to tap it. "
