"Welcome back this is Brian on behalf of expertvillage.com. The next thing that we need to determine before we start developing our film is how long we actually need to develop it for, for example depending on the type of film that’s used you can see that there’s many different times recommended for different exposure values and for different temperatures of chemistry. For example the film that we’re using Kodiak triax with an exposure index of 400 is recommended at 68 degrees to develop for 8 minutes, likewise with the fixture for all films at a one to four dilution at 20 degrees Celsius which is 68 degrees Fahrenheit is recommended between 2 and 5 minutes of fix time. As you just saw though we just mixed out stock solution so it might not be at a perfect 68 degrees, to check we use our thermometer and simply dip it in our solution for a moment and allow the temperature to stabilize… Okay and it looks like it’s stabilized at 71 degrees, so our solution here is 71 degrees Fahrenheit it’s actually a very good intermediate temperature in generally you don’t want to exceed 75 degrees Fahrenheit or go below 65 degrees Fahrenheit but again it’s not our ideal temperature, fortunately film manufacturers have provided a time adjustment charts temperature conversions chart. So for 68 degrees our film was recommended 8 minutes of developing time however, we’re developing it in 71 degrees solution so we can see in between about 7 and a quarter minutes to 6 ½ minutes for 72 degrees, so we need to develop this for about 7 minutes 15 seconds."
