" Hi! I’m Carlos Ramos Jr. on behalf of Expert Village. Today we’re talking about the game of solitaire. Now, let’s do a quick review before we go any further. We made sure that we had our 52-card deck. We went through the deck and made sure that all the right cards were in there; everything that we needed was inside that deck. We got our flat playing surface, got some illumination, and we went ahead and shuffled this deck. After the shuffle, we dealt the cards out in a strategic order that only the rules of solitaire require. Put the remaining cards here, which we call our stock pile. So, we’ve got our game board and we got our stock pile. The next move is to deal 3 cards off the stock pile. Now, make sure you keep them together and only reveal the bottom card. The object of the game is to play all the cards in the stock pile by playing them. The only way to play them is to put them in one of these piles. To put them in these piles they need to be in alternative color and in numerical order from highest to lowest. For example, this bottom card is a red 2, so we need a black 3, which we have right there. Alright, so I place it right there so you can still see the 3 and the 2. Next one on the deck is black 8, so we look through our deck. Do we have a red 9? Remember, it’s got to be in numerical order; highest to lowest and alternative color. Now, if we had a red 8, that wouldn’t work. We couldn’t play it on a red 9; it has to be black 8. Now, you look at your 7, a black 7. What do we need exactly? A red 8. There’s no red 8. If there was a black 8, we still couldn’t play it like here, because you can’t put black on black. It has to be alternative colors. What happens then, you go back to the deck, deal 3 cards out, and you flip them over showing the bottom card. You have a red 8. There’s no black 9 so we can’t play it. You keep going to the deck like that until you circulate through all the cards. Some people stop there and say the game is over; some people just reshuffle the stock pile and go forward. There you go, that’ the object of the game. There’s more steps to it with the foundation etc. We’re going to get into that next, but here’s your basic object of it. "
