"ABE TOKE: Hi. Welcome to Expert Village, my name is Abe Toke. I'm going to take you through step by step to shape yourself a complete surfboard. Once you've got your first pass down, you're going to most likely have a few planing marks left over. What you do with those is you blend them out with a shear formula later or with your 60-grit sandpaper and block or with your planer, if you have the adjustable head and you know how to use it that well at that point. I'm going to go ahead and clean up a little more on this, and then flip it over and do the top, same thing. When you're cleaning up with the shearform, it's pretty simple. Just keep it nice and flat, and flat and straight down the line. It should take those planing marks out relatively easy. Some guys try to keep track of their strokes on each side. It's a good idea, but unfortunately, it doesn't always come out stroke for stroke. You won't have to get them all out. There's still more shaping to do but it's best to keep everything flat before you go on to the next side."
