Video Transcript

"In this segment I'm going to talk to you about a grid. As you can see, the grid creates a nice pretty spot. It's relatively soft; it gradates at the edges very nicely. Go to the hot center. The grid is great for creating spots on something, or illuminating one specific subject. Grids come in different degrees. This one is a twenty-degree grid, which is you know I think is a good standard all-around size. You can get them as to as small as three degrees, which create a very small spot that is very diffused, to to I think it's about sixty degrees, which is is pretty wide, and not very, not very diffused. As you can see, when you light somebody with the grid the light is not very harsh; it's pretty diffused, it's very spotted. This actually was a very popular look in the dot com era. It probably looks a lot like Wired magazine. It does a really good job of really focusing in on somebody."
