"In this segment I am going to talk about Fresnel lenses. This modifier here is actually a Fresnel that has been converted to a flash. Basically I have taken out the bulb and put in a flash tube instead, hooks up to a pack system. A Fresnel is very similar to a sheet magnifier. You have probably seen these in stores or even played with them when you were a kid or something. And basically what this does is the shape of the Fresnel the shape of the glass focuses the light into a spot. This is a sheet magnifier and that is actually the same principle for Fresnel lens and basically what it does is it magnifies, magnifies the light. And it will actually act as a spot. Commonly used in lighthouses and also and these are really commonly used on movie sets. The nice thing is you can adjust them from a spot to a flood light. These are actually really nice; they produce a nice pretty light. These actually give you that kind of look from the forties. Very like kind of glamorous old fashioned look. They are great for back lighting. Things like that."
