"The other really popular system is also a good way to get started, is a battery system. The nice thing about a battery pack is you can just open them up and change the batteries, they are really simple. This one just has four adjustments, from fifty to four hundred watts. Now this is actually a little bit older system, this is a, uh, a Norman 400B system. Now they make a lot of the quantum systems that have, you know, TTL capability with you flashes. I shoot almost everything on manual so I really don't need that. I've been using these for years and they work fantastic, if you can get a hold of one of these systems, they still make new, but if you, you can find these on the used market relatively inexpensively, and they work fantastic. Also the other great system that I use is a Lubridyne System, changing batteries is very easy on this system, works fine for a quick editorial job. I prefer the Lubridyne a little bit better, but you know it just depends on how, it's how you, my mood changes and sometimes I switch different flashes, but they are both great. Usually between two-hundred and four hundred watts on those systems. And you can get boosters for the Lubridyne that can take you on up to sixteen hundred. The only problem with that is the recharge time, or the recycle time which drops dramatically, so I don't really recommend it, you know, four hundred watts, eight hundred watts, every once in awhile, on those battery systems you can use, but that really kills your battery, and it also kills you recycle time."
