"The next system that I want to talk about are monolights. These have become very popular over the last few years and there's good reason for that. These are great on location, they are all self-contained, it's just a single flash with everything inside, capacitor and everything. You've got your, you know, controls in the back, that are just really simple. You control your modeling lights, because I use them about ninety percent of the time, almost always in the studio, almost always on location. Only when I usually go to battery operated flashes, do I, do I stay away from these. These have become, probably become so popular recently, it's because you don't need as much power as you used to for digital photography. The smaller sensors don't require as much light as you did when you were shooting four by five and two and a quarter and stuff, so you don't really need as much power. I, even at seven hundred and fifty watts, I rarely use these above a quarter. They are also, it's also really nice to just walk up to a flash when you want to make an adjustment to it, it just is more intuitive to actually walk over to a flash and adjust it as opposed to operating a pack on the floor. And then plus, when you want to add lights to your system you just buy another one. You know, if you, most of the pack systems have three outlets, two, three, some of them have four, and so if you want to go beyond that, you have to add another pack and lights and this one, you could just add as many lights as you need."
