"Now, three main systems that I use, are the pack systems, monolights, and the battery-operated pack systems. You kind of want to think about the different kind of photography you're going to be doing. If you're going to be largely in the studio, a pack system could be great. If you want a lot of detail, and you need a lot of energy, then you might want to go with the pack system. If you're going to be on location, and back and forth. If you're going to be on location, inside, for the most part, near power, then you might, a monolight system, would probably be good enough for you. They're great for portraits and stuff. If you're doing a lot of, like, you know, being out in the middle of nowhere, if you're not exactly sure if you're going to have access to power, then a battery system is probably good for you. The first system I'm going to talk about is, a pack system. Pack systems are great for the studio, they are very powerful. They generate a lot of light. They also have, usually multiple controls on them, so you can have a lot of lights attached to one generator. And then, you can control lights from a central location. The problem with these is, they tend to be very heavy. They're not good on location. Sometimes when you're moving around the studio, it's kind of a pain to have it centralized, and you've got to run back to the pack, and adjust something. The one nice thing about a pack system is, you can adjust the flash from the ground. You don't have to get up on a ladder, when you have a flash up on a boom, and do any adjustments to it."
