Series Summary

Eye liner is a makeup that is used to better define the eyes. There are four main types of eye liner on the market today. Liquid eye liner is one of the most popular because it is the most precise but it is difficult to apply because you need to be very steady, hard powder-based eye pencil is also very precise but much easier to apply, softer wax-based pencils are easy to apply and are better to use for smudging and Kohl eyeliner has the softest powder texture.

In this free video series our expert, Yvette Parrish, will show you tips and techniques for selecting the right eye liner for your use and step by step instructions on how to correctly apply it as well as the best and easiest way to remove it. She will thoroughly explain the differences among the different types of eye liners and how to care for them to get the most use possible. You will also learn tips on applying eye liner for photos which is a bit different than regular everyday application.

" Hi! I am Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today I am going to show you how to apply the eyeliner, the different styles of eyeliner, and how to get that pretty smoky look. There are basically three types of eyeliner you can use. You can use a cake eyeliner, which is in a powder form. The cake eyeliner, you will have to wet your brush and apply it with a brush, and you put it on the top line. That is a cake eyeliner. Old faithful, which everybody’s seen, which is the pencil; you can use it. I do not like to sharpen it super, super, super sharp, because it kind of hurts when you put it on, and the line is too skinny. So make sure when you have your pencil, keep it a little bit nubby, I think it works a little bit better. There are also liquid liners. They come water-resistant, every color, every brush imaginable, some are long wearing. Any time you use a liquid liner, it is going to look shiny, and it is going to be a little bit more of a dramatic look. You can get a pretty swoop that way, and with the brush, the way it is very flexible, you can get like a Cleopatra swoosh at the end, which is very dramatic. It is wonderful for the evening; but I would save this for the evening time and use the pencil or the cake during the day. My name is Yvette Parrish, and I would love for you to visit my website at www.texaslatina.com; and I would like to thank Cynergy Dance Studio for allowing us to film here at their studio. Their website is www.cynergydance.com. "
