Contour Colors for Blue Eyes : Eyeshadow Tips

"Hi! I’m Yvette Parrish, thanks for joining me at expertvillage. Eyes are so much fun, and there are really not a lot of rules. I’m going to give you some tips to some basic outlines. I’m going to use a dark base on her. I’m going to use a plum pallet. As you can see it has a purpley, a light lilac purple, a white and then like a pink: these are a really pretty palette for her. I’m going to grab the purple, the darkest color. Always go dark is first, because, God forbid if you make a mistake, you still got the light colors to go over everything, and you can fix anything. So I’m going to slightly lift up her eye, and I’m going to see where I want to apply her dark color. I’m not blending. I’m only getting her contour where I want it to be. If she opens her eye, your model or yourself, when you are applying makeup and if you do not see this line, let’s say you open your eye and you just don’t see it, you didn’t go high enough with this contour color. You want to be able to open her eyes and have her look at you, and have her look at herself in the mirror, and you want to be able to see this line; so that’s what I’m doing. I’m actually going to also apply black on her eyes, but I’m starting with plum right now. And you notice I am using a small brush, because I’m working on a small contour area right here. I’m not blending. I just want to make sure it is where I want it to be. Okay, open…The same thing, you want to be able to see it. Now, I have not blended, I’m just placing my color. I want to make sure it is where I want it to be. Okay, open… Alright, so once I see that is what I want, I take the same brush and I’m going to clean it. You can use a towel, paper towel…this is a cotton circle thing and I’m cleaning it off. Now the brush is clean, I can lift up this eye area, and I’m going to blend. What I’m doing, remember we have the cream eye shadow on underneath it, so it makes blending a lot easier, and just breaking up that line. You can keep that line if you want, there is no rule; and if you like a very, very dramatic eye you can keep that line. But I’m going to break it up. Alright, and then you can see the difference."
