" Hi! I’m Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today, I’m going to show you how to apply makeup properly, professionally, and the use of brushes. Next we are going to be applying her blush, and I will show you the proper placement for blush. Now, one of the basic rules with makeup—and remember there is not a lot of rules with makeup; they are just basic rules to go by. I am doing a warm look on her. And you ask what is warm? Warm colors are the browns, the golden peach. Green is actually a warm color. Since we applied browns and golds to her eyes, then on her cheeks, I want it to be complementary towards her eyes, which means I don’t want to put a fuchsia pink cheek on her. That is not going to match her eyes. So since I used brown and golden bone, then I want a chestnut and apricot and nutmeg. Those are the kind of colors that will go with the brown eye. So that is what I am going to do. I am going to kind of pick a peach color, as you can see, to apply, and I am going to apply it starting at the cheekbone and up. You sort of make a letter C. You can kind of see on mine right there, because what it is doing is you are framing the eye. When you are doing the blush, not only of course everyone wants to look slender, we want the model with the beautiful cheekbones. You really, ideally want to frame the eye. That is why we won’t do so much work on the eye. So I am going to apply it in a soft C, and have your model smile, and this is called the apple of the cheek. It is always pretty to put a little bit on the apple of the cheek, and then I bring it up, may be a touch on the nose. Because blush, it is simulating when you blush. And when you blush, it is usually not just the cheeks. If someone blushes and they have an embarrassing moment, their whole face gets pink or red. So when you are applying blush, put a little bit on your nose, a little bit on the forehead, a little on the chin. So that way you just don’t have two stripes going on the side of your face… and I am going to do the same thing on the side. I am going to start with her apple and kind of go up and see… and the same thing on this side, it is like a C and we are kind of framing the eye in doing this area, go ahead and give me a little smile. Here is the apple of her cheek, and that way get your models to smile for you too. I am putting a little bit on her chin; and you see how everything is very complementary, and mostly when we talk and when we smile, the apple of the cheek is what rises up, and that’s where you want to make sure you always have a little color on, because that is what is going to give you a youthful glow and a very pretty look.
