" I want to thank you for visiting expertvillage.com. Today we’re going to learn about some makeup techniques and this is my beautiful model Ana-Lucy Corona. And we kind of think when you’re doing the makeup, do you want to really change the way the skin looks, do you want to give it a completely flawless look, do you want a natural look, is it something that got to last all day under the lights: you kind of have to evaluate what you need the make-up for. And this is my college student, so I know that she wants a natural to medium coverage so I chose a liquid foundation in a yellow base, and you can see how wonderful it matches her skin. Most people have a yellow base to their skin. If you’re not sure what your under coloring is of your skin, I would recommend maybe going to a department store and having one of the makeup artists maybe have a look at you and that way you can kind of tell. Some people can’t tell—am I yellow based, am I orange based—most people are yellow based, typically about 75% of people. I’m applying the liquid with my finger. Anytime you apply makeup with your finger it’s more coverage. When you use a sponge, and I’ll show you right here, if you use a sponge, the sponge absorbs a lot of the makeup. So in turn, when I grab it and apply it, it’s much more sheer. If you want a little more coverage, open your eyes and look up, like I want it a little bit under her eyes then I’m using my finger. Try to always use your middle or your ring finger to apply makeup, not your index finger. This is the strongest finger you have on your hand and you can hurt somebody accidentally, so always use your ring finger to apply makeup. And cause I want to give her a little coverage I’m using my fingers. And you see how pretty it covers; if you apply the foundation with your fingers under the eyes, sometimes you don’t have to use a consealer because it’s more coverage, so you’re not needing another product. The less products the better on your skin if you want a natural look, and for Ana-Lucy today I’m going to do a very warm, golden natural look. That will be great for her in college, and it will be great for her to do easily and also fast to glamour up as well. I’m taking a little bit of foundation and I’m applying it on her eyelids and you ask why? Because everyone has a little discoloration on their eyelids: sometimes they have veins, sometimes they’re darker in this orbit, their pinker, it’s always some issue everyone has on their eyelid, so it’s really best to put a little foundation there too so their whole face is the same texture. And when it’s time to apply the powder, the powder grabs evenly all over the face and you don’t have to worry about the powder grabbing here and not here, cause remember we’re painting so we want everything the whole canvas to be one color."
