"Hi! My name is Susan Jacobs of Personal Style Image Consulting and on behalf of Expert Village; I'm here to talk to you today about older, better, but not necessarily harder to dress. In this clip, we're talking about the pencil skirt. A pencil skirt is a very slim fitting skirt, usually has a flat waist as my model's. There are no pleats. It could have a side zip or back zip, which are very flattering. They may or may not have pockets, but the key thing about a pencil skirt is it follows the natural shape of the hip, the thigh, and the leg. Pencil skirts are the most flattering skirt for any shape. Pencil skirts should not cling. They should fit at the waist, but if your hips are a problem area and you want to buy one that fits at the hip and then have it tailored at the waist to fit accordingly. The most often mistake people make is buying a pencil skirt that is too tight in the hip area and causes it not just to look unflattering, but it will ride up. So what you do, just to restate that because they are the most flattering skirt for any shape, especially at 50. We look great, we want to show off those curves. But keep in mind they should be to the knee or just below the knee and they don't cling; they follow the shape of the body. So if your problem area is your waist, fit it there first. If your problem area is more in the tummy area, that's where you want it to fit you and tailor it so that it fits you and complements and floats over those curves. "
