"Hello, I'm Tom Wright from Gingerbread Glass on behalf of Expert Village. For this segment, I'm going to talk to you about what the kiln has to do with blowing glass. So many of you might recognize the name kiln from pottery working. Well this just along the same lines, but it's for glass. Now, the kiln can be used in a couple different ways. The number one way it can be used is to anneal your glass works. Now annealing is when you take glass to a temperature and then drop it till it reaches room temperature. Now the annealing temperature of the glass that we're working with is one thousand and fifty degrees Fahrenheit. Beyond that, when using a kiln, you may place your work in a kiln, while in the midst of working, to take a break or create something else and add it on. This can be very helpful when working on much larger pieces."
