"In this segment we will talk a little bit about bezel setting. Bezel setting is where you have a stone that is completely surrounded by metal. It is total protection for one, it also emphasizes the size of the stone. It is a technique that has been used for many many years and you will see it, it is quite common in men's rings as opposed to lady?s rings. Most of the ladies like the exposure of their stones but when you look at the wear characteristics of a ring and how you are designing it a bezel setting lends a great deal to a longer life or a longer lasting bezel and protection on the edge of the stone and so in this case you can use a white gold or a yellow gold depending upon the ring that is being made and how it is being set."
