"SUSAN BELLONE: Hi. I'm Susan Bellone on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we are going to learn how to build an earring wardrobe. If you have sensitive skin and are concerned about wearing post earrings that are made out of metal other than 14 karat gold, you have some options available. You can get a bottle of clear nail polish and coat the back of the post. There are also companies that make products to coat the back of the earring posts, and it works in basically the same way as a nail polish, clear nail polish. You coat the post, and make sure if the backing has metal on it, that it's coated as well. In this way, the metal never touches your skin. Let it dry about an hour, and then you should be ready to wear your earrings even if you have sensitive skin. Since you now have a couple of options to coat earring backings, if you do have sensitive skin, you no longer need to feel hesitant about costume jewelry."
