"In this clip we will speak about the emerald cut. The emerald cut is probably the oldest cut simply because it is the forerunner of all the other cuts. It still utilizes the crystal form but it also has less facets than the standard American brilliant cut. The emerald cut was very very famous with the movie stars many many years go in the retro period simply because that was the most beautiful stone available. The prismatic effect that is derived off this particular cut is very broad which you may be able to see in this shoot. You will have a huge spectrum of color when you do see it as opposed to the fine sparkly prismatic effects in the finer cut stones. The emerald cut has come back in its popularity and it is highly sought after today. The proportions of cutting an emerald cut are the most important of other stones simply because they are critical, the angles are very critical to achieve the proper prismatic return."
