" Hi! My name is Rick Wyckoff and you can check out our website at avatart2.com. I am here on behalf of expertvillage.com talking about tips and techniques for getting tattooed. But right now I am going to talk about pursuing a career in tattooer. There is a lot of interesting tattooing right now and there is a lot of schools and people offering apprenticeships for large sums of money. The first consideration is who you are learning from. So the person that you are learning from should have large body of work for you to look at. Also you should admire their work. It should be somebody that whose work you followed over the years that you really admire. They need to have something special about your work that you really identify with that you are seeking to capture from that person. Also they should be somebody that is reputable in the industry. They should have at least some kind of a national or international recognition; lots of photographic documentation as far as their work goes. Also the duration of their schooling really should have a time limit on it. The ultimate goal should be to transmit the knowledge to you and help you be able to utilize it. In our school, the Avatar Tattoo Academy of Visionary Arts, we not only teach the mechanics of tattooing, how to operate the equipment but it is more or less an arts driven program. So in other words doing and generating artwork outside of tattooing is just as important as doing the tattoos themselves. Being able to create visual media that you can apply to tattooing and vice versa basically operating in multiple mediums will make it so that each medium we need to bring stuff back and forth from tattooing to painting and vice versa.
