" Hi my name is Rick Wyckoff and you can check out our website at avatart2.com and I am here on behalf of Expert Village.com and we are talking about tattoo pigments. Basically the tattoo pigments aren’t actually inks like people call them. They’re not colored liquids. It is basically solid infused in suspension of water, glycerin and alcohol. The black is different than the colors in that the black is basically particles of pure carbon suspended in that same infusion whereas the colors are mineral salts so they are a different shape. They go in differently and last differently. The black is the most stable that has the most longevity. It is not as vulnerable to sun damage, etc. as the colors because it is just a particle of carbon as opposed to mineral salt. Underneath the microscope, the pigment would look like little cubes, like little grains of salt almost. The carbon almost looks like little Christmas trees underneath the microscope. So not only the shape lends to its staying and having more longevity but also your body can’t break down the carbon or won’t try to break down the carbon as easily as mineral salts. So that is where kind of the idea that black lasts longer than color comes from. It is true to a certain degree."
