"Before you get started with your hair color, make sure you're covered with some type of a cape. There's professional capes that you can purchase pretty inexpensively. Make sure you are totally covered. If you don't have a cape to cover yourself with, an old t-shirt dedicated to hair color. This is a t-shirt that has been ruined by hair color in the past and you don't want to continue to ruin good clothes after it's been colored, so this is now dedicated to hair color. Make sure you have old towels, again, the hair color will ruin your towels and so you want to dedicate a few old towels to hair color. Make sure that you're floor is covered or that you're working on a tile surface that can be cleaned. Never, ever color your hair on carpeted floor. You want to make sure that you are not on any type of fabric, sitting near or on any type of fabric chair, make sure everything is covered with plastic and make sure that you're one hundred percent protected because hair color will stain and does not come out."
