"Hi, I'm Marty on behalf of expertvillage.com. I'm here to help you learn how to iron a tie. We are going to cover it with our cloth to help protect it, we use a cotton cloth like this on many different natural fabrics in particular. Linen is known to shine when you iron it, silk can shine obviously and then some of your poly blends tend to come up shiny. So it's just a kind of good way to protect the fabric, give it something in between. Once you iron the back side of your tie we are going to flip it over and just repeat the process on the other side. Some ties already have a shine in it if that is the case it may not be that important to cover it."
