Taking care of your skin is one of the best methods to keep looking young and vibrant. There are several steps to good facial skin care, but the basics include cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Cleaning and caring for the skin prevents cracking, inflammation, and infection, as well as wrinkling, dry spots and aging. Taking the right measures to care for and protect your skin will help keep it looking its best, especially if you wear makeup everyday. While treatment methods may vary, the final goal is the same: to have skin that looks smooth, clean and ageless.
Every skin type is unique and needs to be treated differently. In this free video series from a licensed medical aesthetician, you'll learn how to care for a number of skin types, including oily skin, acne, sensitive skin, mature skin, and normal skin. With these tips and techniques, no matter what your skin type, you'll be able to have healthy and clean skin by using the right products!
"Hi, my name is Mary Thinnes. I am a skin care expert. Today, I will discuss, with you, how to determine one's skin type. First of all, your skin is the largest organ of your body. Most people aren't aware of that. So, it is very important, in order to maintain healthy skin, to know one?s skin type. Otherwise, you will use improper products and you won't have the skin that you are hoping to have. By not knowing your skin type, you may be using incorrect products or doing incorrect treatments, for that matter. There are four different skin types. They range from Normal-to-oily, multi-oily, oily-tannic, sensitive skin and mature skin. I will discuss each one of those, individually, to help you to determine which skin type that you have. I will also, go over what products are appropriate for each skin type, as well. Like I said, determining one's skin type is very important. It is based on a pH scale, which I will go over later. Again, for now I just want to show the pH scale. It runs from 0 to 14. Suppose your skin is at a 4.5 to 5.5? I will tie that in later and let you know, as far as, how that relates to determining one's skin type."
