Taking care of your skin is one of the best methods to keep looking young and vibrant. There are several steps to good facial skin care, but the basics include cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Cleaning and caring for the skin prevents cracking, inflammation, and infection, as well as wrinkling, dry spots and aging. Taking the right measures to care for and protect your skin will help keep it looking its best, especially if you wear makeup everyday. While treatment methods may vary, the final goal is the same: to have skin that looks smooth, clean and ageless.
Treating and caring for the skin changes for different conditions and skin types, but it also changes for situations. In this free video series, a licensed medical aesthetician will teach you how to treat the skin before and after facial surgery. You'll learn how to prepare for surgery, what at-home products to use, how to treat the skin after therapy, and how and when to use skin products. With these tips and techniques, you can make sure that your skin will still look good after getting facial surgery.
"Hi, my name is Mary Thinnes. I'm a skin care expert. I'm going to talk to you now about preparing your skin for facial surgery. Generally speaking with facial surgery like face lifts or, you know, reconstructive surgery I don't want to say that with reconstructive surgery its usually limited to an age group, but with face lifts, generally speaking, the people are in their, you know, they're aging. So they're in their older years and so, generally speaking, just because you're getting surgery and getting something fixed you still have to have your skin supple and prepared correctly. So in doing so you definitely want to, for mature skin, like I mentioned before, they're going to be most likely using a cleansing cream at home. "Cause with cleansing gels that's going to be more drying on their skin. So with cleansing creams, like I am using right here on my hand, its not going to suds up like your cleansing gels so it doesn't have sodium or all sulfate in it which is an irritant that's going to cause aging. But that's what causes sudsing in your cleansing gels. So for mature skin they're going to be using a cleansing cream that's not going to suds. So like I cleansed my hand and I'll just rinse it off. You also want to use your hyaluronic acid. You definitely want to use your anti oxidants at home for your skin to prepare it for surgery. You want to keep it moisturized. You want to keep your PH balanced in your skin. And so you will have better outcomes with your surgery. So that being said those are the proper steps in taking care of your skin prior to facial surgery."
