How to Use Marcel Iron to Straighten African American Hair

"Hi! This is Liz Muller at Liz’s Hair Design and now I am going to proceed to show you how to use a Marcel iron on this hair to get it completely straight. First of all we want to use oily kind of substance like this. It does not have to be really oily nowadays we have things that are anti-frizz and what that does is it actually protects the hair and makes it soft and nice and easy to work with. I did not apply anything on the scalp because her scalp is not dry right now. So what I am going to do is I am going to take a Marcel iron and first I am going to test it on the towel making sure that is not too hot for her hair. Okay, I do not want to burn off Nicky’s hair, I just will make sure that her hair is nice, I am taking care when I am going to proceed to push in on her hair and show you how to use the Marcel iron. I am making it completely straight like that. I am going to straighten it down like this, bending it if I want to bend it, but I just want to keep it completely straight down like that. I want to get a very straight kind of Indian look, completely straight down like that, making it flat on the hair. You do not have use a Marcel iron this big, there are Marcel irons is a lot smaller like this one. Here you can also use this kind of iron. "
