Series Summary

Curly hair requires special attention and often is much more difficult to care for than straight hair. Due to curly hair's tendency to knot and tangle, it can be difficult to wash and dry, as well as making cuts a risky adventure because of the varying lengths when wet or dry. Stylists and cosmetologists can assist in taking care of curly hair, giving tips on flattering cuts, and instructions on hygiene and maintenance for curly hair. In the free video clip series, our expert will show you the basics of curly hair care. Tricks for detangling, brushing and combing, styling, straightening, drying, using styling products such as gel or pomade, and the use of rollers, curlers and Spiro rods. Popular styles for curly hair are also demonstrated.

"Hi this is Liz Muller from Liz’s Hair Design in Hollywood, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village.com, we would like to welcome you. Today we are going to talk about curly hair; how to manage curly hair, how to style it, how to condition it and how to treat it. Hair is a very important thing and curly hair is very tough to manage and very tough to style. As you can see I just finished shampooing my hair and my hair is very, very curly. It has a little frizz to it in the front and the waves are a little big here but they form a big curl down here. I wanted to talk about shampoos for curly hair and when you are doing your hair and it is very curly, I advise to use a hydrating shampoo; something that is going to moisturize curly hair. Curly hair needs a lot of moisture and needs a conditioner also that has a lot of moisture. Every once in a while, you are going to need treatments for this hair in order to keep the curls nice and formed and to keep the hair conditioned because like I said, curly hair is very dry. And as you are going to find out when doing curls in curly hair, in order to keep those curls shiny and formed, they would need various treatments and various different conditioners. So let’s get into different styles and how we are going to style this hair in a little bit."
