For centuries haircuts have been a distinctive form of cultural markers and self-expression. From the white wigs of the British political elite in the 17th and 18th centuries to the mo hawk wearing teenagers of today, the way we wear and style our hair speaks to who we are as individuals and in society. Whether you're a man or woman, boy or girl, conservative or liberal, there's a hairstyle for you and whatever you happen to be into. Changing a hairstyle can drastically change the way we look, but all this must be taken with a grain of salt; for once cut, it'll grow back, and at the end of the day, it's just hair!
In this free video series, our expert Liz Muller will teach you how to cut curly hair into layers. She will show you all the tools you will need, how to shampoo, condition, and rinse the hair, and how to de-tangle and section off the curly hair. Liz will also show you how to position the client, keep the client still, and how to do the strait and oval hair cutting techniques. Ms. Muller will show you how to cut the first and second layers, how to follow a guide to cut the hair, and how to cut the hair at angles and how to make sure those angles are correct. Finally, Liz will teach you how to cut the front and sides, the push forward technique, and she will talk about layering options for people with curly hair.
"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Lizbeth Muller from Liz's Hair Design in Hollywood, Florida, and today we're going to show you how to cut curly hair. This is my client today and we're going to cut this beautiful curly hair. As you see, she is very curly. When it's wet and ready to cut, you'll notice that the curls lie a little flatter. You want to go ahead and be very careful cutting curly hair, because when you're cutting it, it tends to bend a bit when you're cutting it. I cut it dry or wet. I'm going to show you a wet cut, and then later on I'll just clean it up dry. We'll show you that this hair is curly, a bit frizzy. She has layers in there. We're going to cut layers in this curly hair. We're going to cut a couple of inches off. I'm going to show you some tools to cut curly hair. Even though her hair is curly, it's fine. There's different types of curly hair. There's curly hair that's even more thicker than this and you have to use different tools, or you have to use maybe a different method to cut it. This is fine hair that we're cutting, but curly. "
