"Our next step is going to be to add chicken stock. Some people are vegetarian and don't want any chicken products what so ever in their soup. Some people just like the flavor of mushroom better, so you can add mushroom stock here in place of this. You can also add vegetable stock if you would like. One key thing to think about whenever you purchase your stock is make sure that you purchase low sodium or sodium free chicken broth. The reason you want to do this is because you want to be able to control the level of salt in your soup. We're going to go ahead and get 2 quarts in here. You can use water, but chicken stock provides so much more flavor. That's something really to consider. Anything you add to your soup you want to make sure that you're adding a level of flavor and not just water. "
