Preppy Perfume & Jewelry

"The last two pieces of adornment, before we get to the clothing for our preppy style, would be perfume and jewelry. Now jewelry, like everything else, is kept to a minimum in preppy style. You want to have status pieces, meaning, stuff that people know came from somewhere expensive. For example, this is a floating heart pendant from Tiffany. This is very popular in preppier circles, and everybody knows that it's from Tiffany, so that's part of it. Also, simple diamond stud earrings or simple pearl earrings are always a plus. The real staple of a preppy jewelry is a strand of pearls which I don't have right now but is really in every preppy wardrobe. If you were going to get one thing I would tell you to buy a strand of pearls. They have to be real, they don't have to be huge, they should be simple, understated, and beautiful like everything else sort of in the preppy style. The last piece is also perfume. Now I keep repeating myself here with it being clean, with it being simple, but perfume is really a place that this can be exemplified the best. Ralph Lauren makes many scents. Ralph Lauren is sort of the king of preppy fashion. I would recommend his Ralph or his Polo, but I also have one here, this is called "Close," it's from the Gap, and it's a very clean citrus scent. It's very crisp, do not use an Oriental, do not use a spicy perfume, you want something that's fresh, that goes along with sort of the clean line that you've put together for your outfit."
