"Hi my name is Lauren and on behalf of Expert Village I am here to discuss short curly locks with you. Now that we have all the curls set in place I want to tame it down a notch. She is not going to want to walk around with this much volume plus you want to separate those curls a little bit. What I recommend is a little bit of a wax. This is a spray wax, however, I am not actually going to spray it on the hair. I am going to put it in my hand, emulsify it a little bit and then go clear through gently and form those curls. Now in the front as you can see, you have that little bit of curl at the ends. Really this curl in this area on short hair is just to give yourself some volume. Your ends are really where your spirally curl is going to be, where you are going to have that nice S wave going through your hair. You do not need it on the top because once we start going into your updo we are going to piece all of this back and really just your ends, especially with this short of hair is the only thing that is going to actually be sticking out from beneath the bobby pin. The rest is just promoting volume and giving that nice separation. As you go through you can also back comb certain areas like I showed before but this way you are going to be doing it to create a little bit of volume. You are going to be holding the hair at a 145 degree angle. So you are going to hold it out toward you putting a little bit of tension on it. You are going to take your teasing brush or your comb and you are simply going to go down the hair shaft in order to create that little bit of volume and also to get some of those partings from the curling iron to go away. We are looking for a fuller style and you do not want that separation. It is going to make it harder once you get into your pinning. Again lift up and now if I am doing the sides of the hair and I want volume I am not going to use the end of my back combing, you want to use the front. You want to back comb wherever you want that volume on the side that you want the volume. If I want the volume to come this way, then I am going to lift the hair up and do it going down. If I want the volume to go back, then I am going to lift the hair up and push and pull it forward and go down the back side of it, so that way when I do go and drag the hair back you can already see how much is going to get that nice volume. After your back combing is completed you will then spray, you do not have to do a heavy spray because you are going to smooth and go through and that is how you create even more volume when you are looking to get a fuller look and a voluminous updo."
