"Hi, my name is Lauren Farraher on behalf of Expert Village and I'm here to discuss short, curly locks with you. You can see that I started her hair coming back from behind her ear it's still all open, it's not tied up. With short hair updos you're going to actually take sections of the hair, they do not have to be in perfect parting. When you go through and curl the hair if they are in perfect partings it may make it harder for you to fill in those gaps. You can just grab pieces of hair, continuing to curl them, and these we're actually going to pin into her hair to get the style. Watch the diameter. If you take anything too big, or too big of a section, the curls will not be consistent and they'll fall fatter. The smaller the section, the tighter the curl. You have to be aware of not only the diameter but also the size section that you do take when you are curling the hair. If the section is too big the curling iron will not heat the entire hair, and you're going to have to recur it. Really it's just a matter of saving time. Also if you lift up to get some of these sections, curl it down all the way to the root you're also going to be promoting volume, and you're going to start getting a little bit more volume in the hair, which is really what we're going to be going for with this look. We want her hair to have a little bit more volume and it'll be easier to place, and it'll just fall a little bit nicer, and it'll make her hair look fuller as if she has more hair than she actually does."
