Adding Accessories to a Curly Hair Up-Do

"LAUREN FARRAHER: My name is Lauren, and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to talk to you about curly hair updos that you can do at home. So we've already got her style set in into place. Normally, you're going to want to kind of go through, keep smoothing, you can use some shine spray. That also helps smooth the actual updo. But now, you can also use accessories to accentuate the updo. I'm using literally everyday things that you would use. Ultimately, I mean, you can use stud earrings in order to accentuate an updo. You would simply place it into the hair, just as if you were using--putting it in your ear and put it actually in your hair. You can go to any mall and find eclairs or anything like that and you can just buy colorful studs to dress up your hair, whether it being an updo or just your everyday look. Just by placing them in, it adds a little bit more of like a pizzazz to it if you want to kind of dress it up. You can use almost anything around your house. I also have just like an everyday necklace. It's a little bit on the longer side. Now if I wanted to, I could fold this, place it on this top, almost as if it was a tiara. The beautiful thing with updos is the--you can push the remainders of that into the updo and then you simply take two pins or three and set it into place just by going through and putting it there. Now, granted you are going to be using your everyday jewelry, and if you want to accessorize with things like that, you can go out, buy cheaper stuff in order to--that way you don't mind whether they get hairsprayed. But I do suggest though is if you do mind, which this I would wear, is not to do any finishing spray, any finishing touches before you put the jewelry in. Once your hair is dry and the spray is already on, it's not going to do anything to your jewelry. So you can use it, wear it and do lots of different things just to accentuate and add a little bit of more of a sparkle to your already beautiful updo."
