"LAUREN FARRAHER: My name is Lauren, and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to talk to you about curly hair updos that you can do at home. Curly hair updos are usually--I know. Okay. Curly hair updos are usually referred to when you think of the romantic period. They're very soft curls, loose hanging waves. The actual look of curly hair--and you'll sometimes hear the word coif be sent around referring to different hairstyles, and they usually are talking about some kind of curly hairstyle. Coifs were actually hats that noblemen wore. Men, women alike that were very intricate that covered the entire base of the head and they were very intricate, used with lace, different kinds of fabric in order to almost prove their nobility and underestimate their wealth. Coifs today are usually hair. And what would happen, there'd be more intricate styling of your hair. It wouldn't necessarily be a coif. It would be something that would be a little bit more intricate. It doesn't necessarily prove your wealth at this point, but it is something that is a little bit more dressy. The romantic period brought about your curls and everything else in order to create that softness and everything to go around."
